Kent Mayor Dana Ralph will host three community meetings in the next few months to inform residents of the upcoming city budget challenges and to get feedback on spending priorities.
The meetings – as Ralph prepares her 2019-2020 budget cycle – are:
• Tuesday, March 27, 7 p.m., Trinity Church, 3807 Reith Road
• Saturday, April 21, 10 a.m., Sunrise Elementary, 22300 132nd Ave. SE
• Thursday, May 3, 7 p.m., Kent Senior Center, 600 E. Smith St.
Ralph will speak briefly at each meeting, followed by a budget presentation by Finance Director Aaron BeMiller and a question-and-answer session. In addition, the city will set up an online form where residents can provide input and ask questions about the budget process.
By law, the mayor must propose a balanced budget to the City Council this fall. At that time, there will be additional opportunities, including public hearings, for residents to offer input about the proposed biennial budget.
