A 26-year-old Kent man was shot in the neck during an altercation with another man Tuesday night in a Burien convenience store parking lot.
The shooting occurred at about 11:30 p.m. near South 160th Street and First Avenue South, according to a King County Sheriff’s Office media release.
Officers were dispatched to a report of a fight and shots being fired in the parking lot of the store. When police arrived they found evidence of a shooting but the people involved had left.
Witnesses told police that two men had been fighting in the parking lot as a group of individuals watched. At some point during the fight handguns were pulled and gunfire exchanged.
Shortly after police arrived at the scene they were notified that a man had been dropped off at Highline Medical Center in Burien with a gunshot wound to the neck. The man was transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and was in serious condition Wednesday morning.
Investigators are trying to determine what led up to the incident. As of Wednesday morning, they were unable to get information from the injured man.
