A 65-year-old Kent man was killed after being hit by a train as he reportedly stood on the BNSF Railway tracks.
Kent Police officers were dispatched at about 8:10 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 20 to the 700 block of First Avenue North, just east of Kent Station, in regards to a train striking a pedestrian, according to a police statement.
An officer found the man who was non-responsive. Puget Sound Fire personnel provided life-saving treatment but the man died from the injuries.
Officers located a video during the investigation that showed a man on the tracks as the train approached. The train’s horn could be heard sounding in the video, but the man remained on the tracks, according to police. The train stopped immediately after the collision. The train was traveling about 20 mph.
