A Kent man is facing multiple charges after allegedly breaking into a Seattle-area home last month and being subdued by the family residing there.
Tyler Thomas Price has been charged with first-degree burglary, unlawful firearm possession and a drug violation stemming from the case in the Fremont area. He also is charged with second-degree robbery for a Sept. 12 robbery involving the Washington Park Apartments in Kent, according to media reports.
Price reportedly broke into a home on Northwest 41st Street in Seattle. But his flashlight, as he walked around inside the home, was spotted by the next-door son of the home’s owners.
The son responded by taking his girlfriend’s car and parking it behind the unfamiliar vehicle – a Land Rover – sitting in the home’s driveway.
Meanwhile, in the home, the mother reportedly awoke and saw Price in her office. She grabbed his flashlight from him. The son then ran into the home and confronted Price. He was joined by his father.
The mother called police.
In the ensuing struggle between the three men, Price reportedly pulled a pistol from his coat and threatened the father and son to let him go. The son grabbed the gun and eventually got it away from Price.
Price reportedly jumped into his Land Rover and pointed a rifle at the son through the window of the vehicle, yelling at the son to move the blocking car. The car remained where it was.
That’s when responding police arrested Price.
The Kent man had property belonging to the family in his vehicle, as well as marijuana and methamphetamines.
Price is scheduled to be arraigned Nov. 17.
