The King County Prosecuting Attorney has charged an 18-year-old Kent man for causing the death of a 56-year-old Kent man on Wednesday morning.
Justin Cordova, also a Kent resident, has been charged with one count of vehicular homicide.
The criminal complaint alleges that Cordova was driving his car in a reckless manner and while intoxicated when he lost control of the car, crossed the centerline, and struck an oncoming motorcycle. The collision occurred on Southeast 223 Drive on Kent’s East Hill. The impact ejected the motorcyclist and sent his motorcycle into a nearby yard.
Despite the efforts of police, fire and medical personnel, the victim died a short time later.
Kent Police traffic investigators spent Wednesday morning at the crash site, collecting evidence and measuring tire marks at the scene.
“From the beginning the evidence from this crime spoke for itself,” said Kent Assistant Police Chief Pat Lowery. “This investigation became a matter of putting the pieces back together to tell the whole story, which is the basis for this charge.”
Cordova was arrested for investigation shortly after the collision. He has remained in custody at the Kent City Corrections Center until late today, when he was transferred to the Regional Justice Center.
He is currently being held on $100,000 bail.
