A Kent man remained in a King County jail in Seattle Wednesday with a bail of $80,000 after he had two alcohol-related bookings within three days last month as well as two driving under the influence arrests in the last eight months.

Somphong Phiengkham, 44, appeared Jan. 26 in a King County courtroom in Burien to face a driving under the influence charge from May. Phiengkham showed signs of intoxication during his court appearance and a judge ordered him into custody for violation of the condition of his release from the DUI charge, according to a Washington State Patrol media release.

Phiengkham posted his then $5,000 bail later that day and was released from jail.

Three days later on Jan. 29, the State Patrol arrested Phiengkham for investigation of DUI after a 911 report of a blocking disabled vehicle driven by Phiengkham along Interstate 405 in Bellevue. Troopers determined Phiengkham to be impaired while investigating the incident. He also was booked for driving while license suspended. Bail for those two bookings was set at $30,000.

Phiengkham appeared in King County Superior Court Wednesday when a judge added an additional $50,000 bail for violating the conditions of his release.
