Kent Police arrested a 30-year-old man for investigation of assault after he allegedly attacked a 60-year-old woman Thursday afternoon in the 13200 block of Southeast 261st Street on the East Hill near Lake Meridian.
Officers responded at about 12:45 p.m. to a report of a man walking down the street with blood on his hands and sounds of a woman who had been heard screaming in the house where the man had come from, police said.
Police were on the scene within moments and took the man into custody.
When officers entered the man’s home, they discovered a woman seriously injured, according to police. She was breathing, but unresponsive. Officers, firefighters and paramedics stabilized the woman and transported her to a nearby hospital, according to police. Police did not say what the relationship is between the man and the woman.
Officers had only one previous contact with the man, who was involved in a 2018 traffic collision, according to police.
Police said they had no other details to release as the investigation continues.
