It’s time once again for the annual Toys for Joy program by Kent firefighters.
The Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority, Kent Firefighters Local 1747 and the Kent Firefighters Foundation will collect, sort, wrap and deliver new, unwrapped toys to needy families in the community, including at the Kent Food Bank, Maple Valley Food Bank and the SeaTac Holiday of Hope program. In addition to toys, non-perishable food and monetary donations also are accepted.
People can drop off toys for children up to 12 years old at any Kent, Covington, SeaTac or Maple Valley fire station. For a list of fire stations, go to pugetsoundfire.org.
Volunteers are needed for two gift-wrapping parties to prepare the toys for delivery to local food banks. The parties are at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 11 and Thursday, Dec. 19, at Fire Station 75, 15635 SE 272nd St., in Kent.

Puget Sound Fire also supports the Jerry Woods Holiday Engine – a longtime Maple Valley tradition. The Holiday Engine will visit neighborhoods in Maple Valley and Covington beginning the first weekend in December to collect food and gifts that will go to the Maple Valley Food Bank for distribution.
