Kent firefighters responded to a Covington house fire that displaced a family of six at about 9 p.m. Sunday night in the 26400 block of 183rd Avenue Southeast.
Firefighters from the Kent Fire Department Regional Fire Authority and the Maple Valley Fire Department emergency unit were dispatched to the fire, according to a Kent Fire Department media release. The first arriving fire engine reported that all the residents were out of the house and smoke and fire was showing from the south end and from under the structure.
There were no reports of injuries.
Firefighters made an aggressive exterior attack and knocked down most of the fire before entering the structure to search for hidden fire. Firefighters found more fire in the small attic space and quickly extinguished that fire.
The residence sustained significant damage to the crawl space under the house and to the small attic area. Fire investigators have not yet determined the cause of the fire. No damage estimates have been provided.
The displaced family is receiving housing and other assistance through the Red Cross.
