Kent Fire responded to a blaze Thursday night in a vacant home on 1100 block of Southeast 208th St.
There were no injuries, nor were there any pets located at the one-story rambler home, which apparently had been left vacant for some time.
Randy Droppert, a public information officer with Kent Fire, said he wasn’t certain what first led to the call, but responding firefighters found the Panther Lake-area home about 25 percent involved when they arrived.
“There was a fair amount of flames in the garage,” he said, noting firefighters had the blaze knocked out in less than an hour.
The fire drew approximately four fire engines, as well as a paramedic who was in the area.
The westbound lane of Southeast 208th was closed down during firefighting activity.
Investigation into the cause of the fire continues. A damage estimate for the home, which was empty of belongings, had not been determined as of Friday afternoon.
