No one was hurt on Monday afternoon in Kent after a caboose which had been converted into a small house caught fire in the 28700 block of 144th Avenue Southeast.
A neighbor reported the fire at 1:24 p.m., when smoke and flames were spotted coming from the single-story home, according to a Kent RFA media release. When firefighters from the Kent and Valley RFAs arrived, they were told that no one was in the residence except for a large dog.
Firefighters were able to knock the fire down quickly and searched the building, finding the body of the dog.
A fire investigator is at the fire scene to try to determine the cause. Red Cross assisted the single resident.
