The Kent Fire Department Regional Fire Authority (RFA) board recognized Commissioner Pat Riordan Wednesday, Dec. 4, for his service to both the RFA and King County Fire District 37.
Riordan will retire from the board and the district on Dec. 31, according to a Kent Fire Department media release. He has served as a King County Fire District 37 Commissioner from 1997; as the Chairman of the district from 2009–2012; and as a member of the RFA Governance Board from its inception in 2010 when the Fire District merged with the Kent Fire Department.
Covington Mayor Margaret Harto and Kent Fire Chief Jim Schneider praised Riordan for his dedication to the job, his support of the fire department and his keen sense of always asking the right questions.
Harry George Jr. has been elected to replace Riordan and will be sworn in to his position at a January board meeting.
The other members of the board are Harto, Bill Boyce, Mike Denbo, Les Thomas, Allan Barrie and Dennis Higgins. Boyce, Thomas and Higgins are also Kent City Council members. The board is comprised of three Kent City Council members, three Fire District 37 Commissioners, and one non-voting advisory board member from the City of Covington.
