The Kent Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) will have its annual meeting from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20 at the Kent Police/Fire Training Center at 24523 116th Ave. S.E.
The Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act of 1986 established requirements for federal, state, and local governments and industry regarding emergency planning and “community right-to-know” reporting on hazardous and toxic chemicals, according to a Kent Fire Department media release.
The community right-to-know provisions help to increase the public’s knowledge and access to information on the presence of hazardous chemicals in their communities and releases of these chemicals into the environment.
The Kent LEPC is a partnership between the community, business partners, and first responders to improve chemical safety and protect public health and the environment.
For more information call the Kent Office of Emergency Management at 253-856-4440.
