Hundreds of educators, parents, friends and supporters of public education will rally Wednesday, March 21 at Mount Rainier High School to protest a proposed state takeover of K-12 employee health care.
Those attending the rally are being asked to wear red as a sign of support for public education. The event starts at 5 p.m. at the school, 22450 19th Ave. S.in Des Moines.
Legislators and proponents of the proposed state takeover claim that it will save money. However, state analysts say that a takeover will cost the state at least an additional $44 million.
