Kent Police arrested a man for investigation of fourth-degree assault after he reportedly threw his former girlfriend into a wall during a dispute over watching their child at the East Hill Apartments, 25246 106th Ave. S.E.
A woman called 911 to report her son and his ex-girlfriend were pushing, shoving and punching each other during a July 6 dispute, according to the police report.
The former girlfriend said it was her birthday and she planned to go celebrate it with her sister. She told police she had set up with her former boyfriend to watch their child.
But when the ex-girlfriend showed up to meet the former boyfriend, he didn’t want to watch their child. A verbal argument escalated into a physical fight. The woman claimed her ex-boyfriend had grabbed her around the neck.
The ex-boyfriend told officers he had grabbed the woman’s arm and threw her over his hip in the hallway when she must have hit the wall and cut her ear, which was bleeding. He said he didn’t choke her but had put his hand around her neck for about five seconds or so.
Even though both the man and woman were involved in the fight, police arrested the former boyfriend as the primary aggressor based on what they found out from interviewing the two.
Malicious mischief
Officers arrested a man or investigation of third-degree malicious mischief after he allegedly punched holes in a closet door during an argument with his girlfriend July 6 at the Village at Lake Meridian Apartments, 10917 S.E. 256th St.
The man told officers he wanted to spend more time with his girlfriend and became upset when she went out with friends, according to the police report.
The girlfriend hit the boyfriend in the face with an open palm and he slapped her in response. He then punched a door and wall before leaving the apartment.
Neither the man nor woman had any injury marks, so officers decided there was no probable cause for assault as the two each put hands on each other.
Theft
Police arrested a woman for investigation of third-degree theft after she reportedly took jewelry July 6 from K-Mart, 24800 West Valley Highway, without paying for the items.
Loss prevention officers watched the woman take items and exit the store without paying, according to the police report.
The woman reportedly took a watch worth $29.99, earrings worth $14.99 and a bracelet worth $9.99. She took the tags off the earrings and put them on before leaving the store. She hid the other two items in her hands. She paid for a pair of sunglasses but not the other items.
The woman told police she thought she could get away with taking the items.
Illegal fishing
Officers cited two men for investigation of unlawful recreational fishing after they fished July 7 at Lake Meridian Park, 27103 148th Ave. S.E., without a fishing license.
An officer on foot patrol at the park saw six men fishing from the dock and checked to see if they had licenses to fish, according to the police report.
Four of the men had licenses, two did not. One man without a license said he had a license last year and was going to get one this year but had not bought one yet.
Drugs
Police arrested a man for investigation of possession of drug paraphernalia July 7 at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church near Titus Street and Second Avenue South.
An officer on bicycle patrol saw two men sitting on a bench between two buildings at the church, according to the police report.
Police noticed one of the men had something stuck down inside his pants. The man revealed that he had a glass pipe used for smoking meth. Officers also trespassed the man for 45 days from the church property.
