The Kent City Council will conduct three public hearings 7 p.m. Nov. 18 at City Hall. They are in regard to:
• The draft six-year Transportation Improvement Plan: City officials update the plan each year in an effort to find funding sources and apply for grants for street projects. The 2009-2014 plan includes 39 projects at an estimated cost of $542 million. No additional projects have been added from the 2008-2013 six-year plan, but construction costs have increased by $21 million.
• The Skyline Park Apartments sewer easement surplus: The property owner of the apartment complex near South 221st Street and Military Road has asked the city to release a portion of its sewer easement in order to construct a building. City staff determined the sewer easement is surplus and recommended that the property be sold for fair market value.
• Local Improvement District 359: The final assessment to property owners on 116th Avenue Southeast will be discussed for the street and utility improvements along the road.
