With the exception of cancellation of the city of Kent Parks Department programs at Kent Commons, City Hall and other city facilities are open for regular business hours through expected snow Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Tuesday City Council meeting will be held as scheduled at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 220 Fourth Ave. S.
With more snow expected this week, city crews are working to keep roads clear during inclement weather. Public Works crews have been working 12-hour shifts since Sunday morning to be able to respond quickly to weather-related problems, according to a city media release.
The Public Works Department’s Snow and Ice Response Plan prioritizes clearing major and minor arterials, collectors and particularly hazardous roadways first, before moving on to plow residential streets.
So far, crews have used 1,100 gallons of de-icing liquid, 6.5 tons of salt and 190 tons of sand on Kent’s 556 miles of roadway.
Residents may visit DriveKent.com for up to the minute road closures and other significant traffic disruptions.
