Torklift Central RV in Kent will host its second annual classic car and motorcycle show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 1 during the company’s open house.
The second annual Stuff the RV Classic Car and Motorcycle Show, 917 Central Ave. S., is free to enter and free to attend. Entries must be received by May 24. To enter the show, call 253-720-1969.
“To qualify for entry, vehicles can be no newer than 1976, “ said Torklift general sales manager Greg Joyce. “The year signifies when Torklift Central first opened for business.”
There will be thousands of dollars in products raffled off during the event. Trophies are provided to first through third place along with cash prizes. A team of five judges chooses the top three winners during the open house. A free catered barbecue lunch is also provided during the car and motorcycle show.
During the show, Torklift Central RV will collect donations and stuff an RV full of items to send to U.S. troops overseas. The business is collecting items such as non-perishable food, hygiene products, reading materials and games for troops. Local schools are submitting letters to send with the care packages as well. For each item donated to Stuff the RV, an additional raffle ticket is given.
“Last year we collected more than 400 pounds of food, roughly 100 books, 312 magazines, nearly 1,000 games and countless hygiene care packages on Saturday,” Joyce said.
A total of $455 was raised at last year’s event to send the packages overseas. All the donations collected will be sent to Soldier’s Angels, a non-profit group dedicated to sending care packages to troops stationed in various countries overseas.
“Car and motorcycle show entrants also receive a raffle ticket for giveaways,” Joyce said. “Raffle tickets are made available to entrants and the public for donations.”
