A Kent bicyclist killed in a Nov. 22 collision in Kent has been identified.
Jason Allen Coffin, 48, died of a blunt force injury of his head, according to a Nov. 27 report by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The bicyclist collided with a vehicle at about 12:33 p.m. near the 800 block of Central Avenue South, according to Kent Police. Coffin died at the scene.
Witnesses reported seeing the bicycle abruptly turn in front of a vehicle that was travelling southbound on Central Avenue South, according to police. The driver of the vehicle, a 24-year-old man, stayed at the scene of the crash and was fully cooperative with the investigation, according to police. Early indications are that substance impairment of the vehicle driver was not a factor in the crash.
The Kent Police Traffic Unit was called to the scene to conduct the investigation. Officers collected evidence and statements to determine the circumstances that led up to the crash.
