Kent fire investigators on Sunday arrested a man in Bellevue in connection with an early morning porch fire which occurred on New year’s Day.
The Kent Fire Department responded to the fire at 5:46 a.m. Jan. 1, in the 23700 block of 98th Avenue South.
According to a press release, the fire was the result of fireworks, and possibly a liquid accelerant, which were ignited on the porch of the home following a dispute between the female resident and an adult male, who was arrested in Bellevue without incident on Sunday.
Damage was limited to the porch and no one was injured.
The man is currently in the Kent Jail awaiting a hearing where he will be charged with arson in the first degree.
