James Kenney, of Kent, has been appointed by Gov. Jay Inslee to serve on the Governor’s Committee on Disability Issues and Employment.
Inslee appointed Kenney and several others to the 27-member committee in January. He will serve a three-year term.
The committee advises the governor and the Legislature on disability issues, generates local action and initiates projects to address specific issues. The committee also provides training and assistance to individuals and organizations statewide, from conducting workshops and conferences to publishing disability-related materials.
At least 50 percent of members shall be persons of disability. Up to 10 percent of the full committee membership may be family members of persons of disability and/or advocates.
Members receive mileage reimbursement, per diem and hotel accommodations.
