An inmate who was hospitalized at Valley Medical Center in Renton died on Friday.
A 52-year-old man was booked into the King County jail at the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent for a community custody violation on Thursday.
A news release from the King County Department of Adult and Juvenile Detention said the county’s medical examiner will conduct an investigation to determine the cause of death. The medical examiner will release his name pending notification of family.
The release also stated the standard process for jail-related deaths is for the department to work with Public Health-King County to conduct an internal investigation. The Kent Police Department will conduct its own investigation, the release added.
