A 26-year-old man died in a two-vehicle collision early Friday morning in Kent at the intersection of South 196th Street and 68th Avenue South.
James G. Black died from blunt force head injury, according to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office. Black had a last known address in Idaho, according to Kent Police spokesman Jarod Kasner. Black died at the scene.
Paramedics transported the passenger in Black’s vehicle, a 25-year-old Bremerton woman, to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with unknown injuries, Kasner said.
Black reportedly ran a red light while westbound on South 196th Street and his vehicle collided with a semi going south on 68th Avenue South, aka the West Valley Highway, at about 12:45 a.m.
This marks the second death at the intersection in the last four years. Brandon Gonzalez, 17, of Kent, died in October 2013 when his car collided with a King County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle.
