Carousel opens for holiday season
The Morford Family Carousel will open for the Christmas season on Nov. 28, and will be open for rides Fridays through Mondays through Dec. 29. The classic 1940s Venetian-style carousel sits in Kent’s Town Square Plaza, at the corner of Second Avenue and Harrison Street. Rides cost $1. Hours are 4 to 9 p.m. Fridays; noon to 9 p.m. Saturdays; noon to 5 p.m. Sundays; and 4 to 8 p.m. Mondays. The carousel will be closed Dec. 25. For more details, call 253-395-1240, ext. 100.
Santa arrives at Kent Station
Santa will make his first appearance at Kent Station at 10 a.m. Nov. 29, accompanied by music from the Rainier Brass Ensemble. From then through Dec. 13, Santa will be on hand at Kent Station Plaza for visits and photos. Kent Station Plaza is located at 417 Ramsay Way. For details, visit www.kentstation.com.
Holiday dance set for Dec. 2
The Kent Senior Activity Center will play host to a Kings of Swing Holiday Dance Fundraiser 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Dec. 2 at the center, 600 E. Smith St. All ages are welcome to dance along to the Kings of Swing big band music. Event proceeds go toward the band’s 2009 tour of Japan. For details, call 253-856-5164.
Kent Holiday Bazaar on tap
The 25th annual Kent Parks Holiday Bazaar will take place Dec. 5 and 6 at Kent Commons, 525 Fourth Ave. N. The event offers more than 100 vendor tables featuring unique and handmade gift. Guests can also enjoy live entertainment, raffles and food and drink. Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Dec. 5, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 6. Winterfest coming to Kent Dec. 6
Kent will have its annual Winterfest celebration 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Dec. 6 throughout the downtown area. The day’s events include a $5 waffle breakfast at Maggie’s on Meeker, street-corner caroling, a one-mile Holly Jolly Walk for adults (11 a.m.), a Kids ‘n Kritters Pet Walk, Kent Lions parade, Santa’s arrival, a bike giveaway and community tree lighting.
