The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning for Kent and the Seattle-Bellevue-Bremerton vicinity from 6 p.m. Thursday until 7 a.m. Friday.
Strong southerly winds will develop this evening and become southwesterly early Friday morning before easing.
Winds could hit 20 to 35 mph with gusts of 45 to 55 mph. The winds could cause tree damage and scattered power outages.
A high wind warning means a hazardous or damaging high wind event is expected.
There also is potential for a damaging storm to strike Saturday and Saturday night. Forecasters say the storm could peak in strength on Saturday night. The exact track of the low pressure center will make a huge difference in how badly the storm impacts Western Washington.
There is a 1 in 3 chance of the low center directly crossing some part of the Central or North Coast that would be a worst case scenario leading to a historic windstorm.
The National Weather Service will update forecasts as the storm approaches.
