South wind of 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph could strike Friday in Kent, Seattle, Tacoma, Bellevue, Bremerton, Hood Canal and the vicinity, according to the National Weather Service.
The high wind watch is in effect from about 10 a.m. through 6 p.m. Friday, according to a weather service urgent message released late Thursday morning.
The impacts could include snapped tree branches, downed trees and local power outages.
A high wind watch means there is the potential for a hazardous high wind event, according to the weather service. Sustained winds of at least 40 mph, or gusts of 58 mph or stronger may occur.
