Kent Police arrested a 32-year-old man for investigation of possession of a stolen vehicle, attempting to elude police, obstruction of an officer, drunk driving and possession of drug paraphernalia after stopping a car driving without its headlights on.
The incident occurred 10:27 p.m. May 31 in the 20600 block of 108th Avenue Southeast.
A patrol officer first spotted the vehicle southbound on 108th Avenue.
The officer ran a license plate check and discovered the Honda Accord had been reported stolen May 28 in the 25600 block of 102nd Place Southeast in Kent.
Police followed the vehicle into a store parking lot and activated the overhead lights when the driver started to speed away from through the parking lot.
The driver eventually stopped the car in the lot, got out and fled on foot. The officer yelled at the man to stop. When he failed to stop, the officer sent a police dog after the fleeing man.
The dog caught the fleeing driver by his arm in the parking lot. The dog then bit the man’s leg as the officer tackled the man.
More officers arrived and handcuffed the driver. He had four puncture wounds on his leg from the dog’s bite, but declined medical attention.
Officers found a shaved key in the car’s ignition.
