Firefly Fisher of the Harlem Globetrotters visits East Hill Elementary School at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Firefly will speak to the school about the “ABCs of Bullying Prevention,” part of the Globetrotters’ 2014 “Fans Rule” World Tour.
The bullying prevention program was designed in coordination with the National Campaign to Stop Violence (NCSV).
“Respectful school communities are a top priority for East Hill Elementary and for our entire District so that every student has an opportunity for a healthy, successful future,” said East Hill Principal Daxa Thomas. “Firefly’s visit will be an engaging way for our students to learn how to help each other.”
Firefly will discuss the tools kids can use to help reduce bullying while incorporating the team’s signature ball handling skills and humor. Firefly will pick a few students to teach them some ball-handling moves.
NCSV, a nonprofit organization, believes that young people who think about their actions in the non-confrontational ways that this program extols can create a culture where aggressive behavior is frowned upon and violence is reduced
