A 24-year-old Kent man was shot and injured Oct. 25 in downtown Kent.

Officers responded to 911 calls that a man had been shot at about 7:24 p.m. in an alley behind the 500 block of North Central Avenue, according to a Kent Police media release.

Officers found the man lying in the alley with at least one gunshot wound to the torso.

Firefighters and paramedics treated and stabilized the man. Paramedics transported the man to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with life-threatening injuries. As of Wednesday, the man remained hospitalized but talked to detectives.

The man told detectives he doesn’t know the shooter, according to an email from Kent Assistant Police Chief Pat Lowery. The man said he believes the shooter confronted him and shot after him after a verbal altercation he had with two females at Kent Station.

Officers fanned out throughout the area but could not find the shooter. They are interviewing people and reviewing video surveillance images captured on area security systems for clues.

“We continue to review the evidence and look for witnesses,” Lowery said.

Detectives are also looking into reports of a man seen entering a small black car, then driving away from the area immediately after the shooting.

“We don’t know if this person was involved in this incident, witnessed it, or possibly left the area unaware that anything had happened,” Lowery said.

Kent Police are asking that anyone with information about this crime call the TIP line at 253-856-5808. Information can be left confidentially, and may be subject to a reward through Puget Sound Crimestoppers.
