The Green River College Foundation will host Painting with the Stars, an auction benefiting the Interurban Center for the Arts at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, in the Mel Lindbloom Student Union on Green River’s main campus, 12401 SE 320th St.

Tickets cost $15 in advance or $20 at the door.

Guests will be treated to wine and hors d’ oeuvres while enjoying demonstrations by local artists. There will also be a silent action and artwork specially designed and created by community stars and artists. Local businesses have donated items for auction from museums, theaters, sports activities and family activities.

Proceeds support arts enrichment of elementary school children by providing training and educational materials to volunteer art docent programs. In its 31st year, the Interurban Center for the Arts impacts children’s learning by showcasing artists and their work, art history and hands-on, age-appropriate projects. The ICA currently provides educational art experiences to elementary schools in seven local school districts each year, giving more than 15,000 students the opportunity to create 100,000 artworks.
