The community is invited to take part in Islam Awareness Week at Green River College.
Each day through Friday, May 19, the Muslim Student Association will host events, including presentations by Muslim-American educators and a film screening, at the college’s main campus, 12401 SE 320th St. in Auburn.
Events include:
• Women in Islam presentation and question and answer session by Julia Ismael; Noon to 3 p.m., Tuesday, May 16, Salish Hall room 110.
• Diversity in Islam student panel discussion and question and answer session; Noon to 3 p.m., Wednesday, May 17, Salish Hall room 110. Panelists include Dea Pasya, Kinza Mohammad, Zniber Amine, Yasin Najibi and Ladifa Tamraysa
• Screening of the film “Kite Runner”; Noon to 3 p.m., Thursday, May 18, Pine/Noble rooms of the Lindbloom Student Union.
• Diversity Banquet; 4 to 6 p.m., Friday, May 19, Salish Hall lobby. Features key note address by University of Washington-Tacoma professor Etga Ugur. Tickets available at the door for $5 per person or $20 per family of four or more.
