Free virtual parent workshops offered to Kent School District families

Goal to help families support their student’s social emotional wellness

Kent Youth and Family Services is partnering with Kent School District and Valley Cities to provide free virtual parent workshops to help families support their student’s social emotional wellness.

From difficult topics like talking with your child about drugs and alcohol to parenting during COVID-19 these workshops will provide valuable tools and resources to help your student succeed.

If you are interested in attending, please complete the RSVP by completing the Parent Workshops to Support Social Emotional Wellness form to receive an email invitation with the link to the virtual event. To learn more, go to kyfs.org.

Drugs & Alcohol 101

March 11 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Learn strategies to talk with your student(s) about drugs and alcohol. Provided by Kent Youth and Family Services.

Parenting During Covid

March 16 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Support for parents struggling with implementing effective behavior strategies at home. Provided by Valley Cities.

Mental Health 101

March 18 from 4 to 5 p.m.

This event is a safe space for Q&A for understanding mental health and how to seek support. Provided by Valley Cities.

Vaping and Nicotine

March 25 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Information every parent should know regarding vaping and nicotine. Provided by Kent Youth and Family Services.

Gender & Sexuality

March 29 from 4 to 5 p.m.

Provides parents practical skills to support LGBTQ+ youth, including how to support youth in their identities. Provided by Valley Cities.

Suicidal Ideation

March 30 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Tools to talk to youth about Suicide Ideation, mental health and keep them safe. Provided by Valley Cities.

Not in My Family

April 15 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Talking about treatment options for mental health and substance use disorder and supporting your child during these times. Provided by Family Kent Youth and Family Services.
