A recent swearing in ceremony of three Kent Police officers included Kelly Robinson, a former Kentridge High School basketball player.
Robinson, Justin Campbell and Brandon Hamilton were sworn in by Mayor Dana Ralph during the Sept. 18 Kent City Council meeting.
The 6-foot-6 Robinson, a 2006 Kentridge graduate, earned the Super Sub Award for the Chargers during the 2005-2006 season, according to the Kentridge basketball website.
Robinson graduated from Central Washington University in Ellensburg in 2010 and worked four four years for the Fremont, Calif., Police Department before deciding to return to Kent, said Kent Police Assistant Chief Derek Kammerzell. Robinson is married with a 7-month-old daughter.
Krystal Robinson, Kelly’s sister and a 2003 Kentridge graduate, also attended the ceremony. Krystal Robinson set numerous basketball records at Kentridge before playing at Western Washington University in Bellingham.
Campbell, who lives in Maple Valley, is a 1993 Kentridge graduate. He served in the U.S. Army as a infantry officer and worked for Reddeway Trucking in Kent and Tacoma before choosing to become a police officer. Hamilton grew up in California and also served as an infantry officer.
