Fire damaged a garage early Tuesday morning at a Kent home in the 12000 block of Kent Kangley Road on the East Hill.
A resident of the home saw the fire woke up and evacuated the other two family members before calling 911 at about 3 a.m., according to a Kent Fire Department Regional Fire Authority media release.
Firefighter attacked the flames in the attached garage and entered the home to ensure that all the occupants were out and safe. Firefighters contained the fire to the garage also some smoke entered the home. It took about 15 minutes to extinguish the fire. Nobody was injured.
Responding agencies include the Valley Regional Fire Authority of Auburn, Maple Valley Fire Rescue, King County Medic One, the Zone 3 Rehabilitation unit and Kent Police. The power company also came out to assist with utilities. The Red Cross was called in to assist the family. One adult, one teen, and one child was been displaced by the fire.
A Kent investigator said the cause is undetermined. Fire officials had no damage estimate.
The home had no working smoke detectors. Fire officials advise people to test detectors on a regular basis.
