Fallen tree in Kent closes portion of Frager Road South; water over other roads

Section of 148th Avenue SE closed due to flooding north of SE 256th Street

Several Kent streets still had water over the roadway on Tuesday morning, Nov. 16 and a fallen tree closed a small stretch of Frager Road South.

A fallen cottonwood tree blocked Frager Road South between West Meeker Street and the Old Fishing Hole parking lot, according to the City Parks Department. The road is expected to remain closed until Wednesday.

“Our Parks team is working closely with Kent Public Works crews to resolve the problem as quickly as possible,” according to a Parks Department statement.

The only road closure as of Tuesday morning was 148th Avenue Southeast between Southeast 249th Street and Southeast 256th Street, a regular flooding area when the rain pours.

The eastbound curb lane on James Street between Central Avenue and 94th Avenue South also was closed due to flooding.

East George Street between State Avenue North and Woodford Avenue North had been closed but reopened Tuesday morning.

Public Works issued a traffic alert for the following streets with water over the road:

• James Street at State Avenue

• 148th Ave SE & SE 256th

• 28001 block of 144th Ave SE (between SE 279th Place and SE 282nd St)

• SE 223rd Drive between 116th Ave SE to 118th Ave SE

Public Works staff advised drivers to please use caution when driving through standing water. Traffic control will be in place.
