Hoping to work at the Kent Events Center? You’ll get your chance to apply at a job fair Nov. 1 in Kent.
Jobs for ticket takers, ushers, food and beverage service workers and other positions will be featured at the fair. The event runs 1- 4 p.m. at the Green River Room at Kent Commons, 525 Fourth Ave. N.
On-the-spot job interviews will be part of the process, according to a statement from SMG, the operator of the city-owned, 6,025-seat arena. The facility is slated to open Jan. 2.
Full-time jobs, part-time jobs and internships are available.
The departments that will be hiring include guest services, food and beverage, box office, marketing, housekeeping, maintenance and operations.
The $84.5 million city events center is under construction at West James Street and Fifth Avenue North.
The Seattle Thunderbirds minor league hockey team will be the anchor tenant of the facility. The team plans to move in late December to Kent from its current home at KeyArena in Seattle. The city has a 30-year lease with the Thunderbirds.
In addition to nearly 40 Thunderbirds games per year, concerts, trade shows and other events should be in the lineup for the 154,400-square foot arena. This year, Thunderbirds will play a shorter schedule of 25 games at the events center between Jan. 3 and March 15, 2009. That’s because their season began before the events center opened.
