The Tacoma Dome announced on Friday that patrons will face enhanced security measures for events beginning with the AC/DC show on Feb. 2.
In a continuing effort to provide a safe environment for fans, the new security enhancements will include metal detectors at all entrances and size restrictions for bags.
“The safety and security of our fans has always been our utmost priority,” said Tacoma Public Assembly Facilities’ director Kim Bedier in a media release. “We are committed to providing the resources necessary to ensure an outstanding fan experience while implementing procedures that improve safety for our guests, performers and staff.”
Handbags may now be no larger than 13 5/8” x 15 1/4”. Backpacks remain prohibited and all bags are subject to search. The Tacoma Dome is unable to check oversized bags or other prohibited items.
Doors for most events will open 90 minutes prior to show time and guests are encouraged to arrive early to allow extra time to enter the facility. Fans should also only bring necessary items to expedite entry; a complete list of prohibited items is available at the Tacoma Dome website.
Similar enhanced security measures are becoming industry standard, including mandatory metal detectors and bag restrictions league-wide in the NFL, NHL and NBA, and nationwide at most non-professional sports venues.
