Bruce Elliott has conceded his Kent School District board race to Maya Vengadasalam.
While the final votes have not yet been tallied, Elliott is ready to admit defeat.
Vengadasalam has 12,301 votes, or 52.02 percent of the vote, as of 8:15 p.m. Tuesday. Elliott has 11,291 votes, 47.75 percent of the vote.
“It’s not going to change, I’m pretty sure of that,” Elliott said of the tally.
In a Friday evening release to her supporters on Facebook, Vengadasalam said that “Elliott conceded with a gracious and kind note.
“With today’s numbers … I feel comfortable in closing this chapter and looking forward to becoming the next Kent School Board director beginning Dec. 1.”
