KENT EVENTS
•Earth Day, April 19
9 a.m. to noon, Service Club Ballfields on Kent’s East Hill. A number of planting and park improvement projects are planned. Parking will be limited because the fields are being used all day, so volunteers are encouraged to car pool and park at Horizon Elementary School, 27641 144 Ave. S.E. A shuttle van will run between the park and school.
•Arbor Day, April 26
9 a.m. to noon, West Fenwick Park, 3824 Reith Road (42nd Avenue South & Reith Road). Kent has been named a Tree City USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation every year since 2003 because of staff and citizen commitment to trees. Volunteers will remove invasive plants at this West Hill park, then planting and mulching hundreds of native trees in the cleared area.
Events take place regardless of weather. Volunteers should bring gloves, wear sturdy shoes or boots and dress for inclement weather. People bringing their own hand tools are advised to label them.

•IKEA Earth Day
April 19-20; 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
IKEA, Renton
King County’s booth at the IKEA store offers techniques, practices and programs to be green. This year is full of activities and personalities, including local gardening personality, Ciscoe Morris on Saturday at 2 p.m. This free two day event blends IKEA’s gardening day and will host other government agencies, groups and businesses that encourage green practices.
•King County Earth Day Expo
April 22, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Westlake Park, Seattle
Celebrate Earth Day with the whole family and learn how “It’s easy being green.”
The expo also features activities and educational opportunities for adults and children, including an appearance by Bert the Salmon, King County’s environmental mascot, children’s activity corner and more. Admission is free.
•University of Washington Earth Week Fair
April 23, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Husky Student Union Building Lawn, UW Seattle Campus
Admission is free.
