Fire damaged a mobile home on Kent’s East Hill early Thursday morning.
There were no reported injuries.
Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority was dispatched to the 11200 block of SE 226th Street just before 4 a.m. What was initially called in as an illegal burn, fire authorities said, quickly escalated to a residential fire, once multiple callers reported the same fire.
Crews were able to extinguish the fire and completely douse it by 4:30 a.m. As soon as crews were able to enter the home, a search of the structure found no one inside.
The Renton RFA, Kent Police, Zone 3 Rehab, and King County Medic One worked the scene alongside Puget Sound RFA.
According to witnesses, an exterior shed initially was on fire and quickly spread to the home. The Puget Sound RFA investigator was able to confirm the witnesses’ accounts and is working to determine the cause of the fire.
An estimate to what was lost in the fire also is to be determined.
A utility company secured power and a board-up company was called to secure the home.
The Puget Sound RFA commended the alert residents who spotted the fire and called 911.
The potential for fire to spread is great in many Kent neighborhoods, Puget Sound RFA warned, but quick actions by neighbors and crews were able to contain Thursday morning’s fire to the single home.
