The Aukeen/Kent District Court in Kent is moving to high ground in Renton to avoid Green River flooding. The move was Friday, with the operations expected to resume Dec. 28 afternoon.

The Aukeen/Kent District Court will move into the King County District Court building that once housed the court’s Renton Division. The court system is leasing the building at 3407 N.E. Second St. The facility sits east of Interstate 405.

Aukeen will move back to Kent, 1210 Central Ave. S., after the flood threat has eased this spring.

Anyone with court business has been notified of the change in the court’s location, said Young.

Due to this move, staff do not expect to have telephone or data access until sometime Monday at the Renton.

All telephone numbers will remain the same.

The district court hears county, state and city of Covington cases as well as civil, small claims, civil protection orders and anti-harassment orders.

The Kent Municipal Court, run by the city of Kent, continues to operate at the same facility used by the county on Central Avenue.
