Two drivers were transported by paramedics to local hospitals as a precautionary measure after a white van and a blue Chevrolet Prizm collided at about 2:40 p.m. March 23 at the intersection of South 196th Street and the West Valley Highway in Kent. Kent Police investigators said the sedan, driven by a woman, was northbound on the West Valley in the left turn lane with a green light to head westbound on 196th when the van, driven by a man southbound on the West Valley, reportedly ran a red light and collided with the car. Both drivers were alone in their vehicles.
