A driver of a vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian in the 23500 block of 104th Avenue Southeast on Tuesday evening, Kent Police reported.
Police were dispatched around 6:20 to a report of a vehicle-versus-pedestrian collision on East Hill.
Puget Sound Fire personnel and medics arrived and provided aid to the victim, but life-saving efforts were not successful, and the pedestrian died of his injuries.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian stopped and stayed on scene, police said. The preliminary evidence shows the driver of the vehicle was following the speed limit and did not appear to be under the influence of any alcohol or drugs, police said. The driver is cooperating fulling with the investigation.
Northbound 104th Avenue SE was down to one lane at the time.
Police are investigating.
