The Kiwanis Club of Kent, Kent Station and the city of Kent are hosting a diaper drive throughout the month of March, part of the annual March of Diapers hosted by Auburn-based nonprofit Do the Right Thing.
People may drop off diapers at two Kent Station businesses, Road Runner Sports and Johnny Rockets, which is part of the city of Kent’s diaper drive. Kent Station is at 417 Ramsay Way. Diapers also can be dropped off on the first floor of Kent City Hall, 220 Fourth Ave. S., during city business hours.
Diapers will be distributed to numerous South King County agencies, including several in Kent, DAWN Domestic Violence Shelter, Children’s Home Society, Iraqi Community Center and Apartment Life/We Love Kent.
Government assistance safety net programs do not pay for diapers and wipes, so the March of Diapers uses the month of March to collect diapers & wipes to meet a desperate need for baby sanitary products that would otherwise not be met, according to Do the Right Thing. Disposable diapers cost up to $85 -$125 per month per baby.
