Delta Dental of Washington’s Tooth Fairy and Smile Power tour visited Kent and South King Country this week, bringing surprise and delight while honoring Smile Makers, community members and local organizations who give back through volunteering, kind acts and other good deeds.
Joan Johnson, a faculty member at Kent’s East Hill Elementary School, was honored Tuesday as a Smile Maker for her positive energy and continuous generosity to families in need at her school.
The Tooth Fairy and Smile Power team surprised her with gift cards and donation items to support her work with these families. The Tooth Fairy revealed three $500 checks to Johnson – for her food program for students, the East Hill Elementary Reading Program and Johnson’s service trip to Japan this summer.
The Tooth Fairy also hosted a reading to the kindergarten class to speak on the importance of taking care of their smile. The Tooth Fairy read “The Berenstain Bears Visit the Dentist,” shared fun dental facts and handed out lunch bags and toothbrushes to all the children.
