On March 3, the Kent School District Board of Directors appointed Karen DeBruler to represent District 2. DeBruler is a 30-year veteran elementary school teacher who currently works with highly capable students in the Issaquah School District. During the course of her career she has taught five different grade levels.
During a special meeting, the school board publicly interviewed each of the five candidates and asked them a series of prepared questions. The candidates had previously submitted their applications to the school district for consideration.
DeBruler will take the oath of office on March 10 during the school board’s next public meeting. She will serve until the term expires in the fall of 2011.
DeBruler replaces Chris Davies, who resigned his post in January due to time issues associated with his tax business.
District No. 2 encompasses the northeastern part region of the district, including Kentridge High School, Meeker and Northwood middle schools, and Fairwood, Ridgewood, Carriage Crest, Glenridge, Lake Youngs and Emerald Park elementary schools.
