Foul weather has postponed Friday’s volunteer work party at Soos Creek Botanical Gardens.
The 10th annual project for The REALTORS Environmental Council (TREC), an environmental stewardship initiative of Seattle King County REALTORS (SKCR), was planned for the gardens, which share the Kent-Auburn border.
Area residents were invited to join REALTORSvolunteers and work under the direction of Master Gardeners and docents to clear invasive Lamium plants and to plant native species on the 22-acre site.
In past years – volunteers ranging in age from 8 to 87 – have cleared non-native blackberries and other invasive vegetation, planted native trees and shrubs, and spread mulch at parks and open spaces around King County.
The TREC project is sponsored by the association’s Affiliate Council.
