A call that was originally dispatched as an “unknown type” fire was quickly upgraded to a structure fire Saturday night in the 15200 block of Southeast 272 Street, the Kent Regional Fire Authority reported.
The first 911 callers at 8:36 p.m. reported smoke coming from the double-wide mobile home. When firefighters arrived, they found smoke and flames coming from the windows.
Because there was a vehicle in the driveway and no residents outside, firefighters quickly entered the home to extinguish the fire and look for victims. A search found no occupants, and contact with the owner later confirmed that no one had been in the home.
The mobile home was heavily damaged on the inside by heat and smoke. There did not appear to be any working smoke alarms.
The fire is under investigation.
In addition to the Kent RFA, the Maple Valley FD and King County Medic One responded to the call.
