Firefighters extinguished a fire outside a vacant office building at East Ward and State Avenue North early Sunday morning, the Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority reported.
Responding to a 911 call at 2:02 a.m., Puget Sound Fire units found an exterior rubbish pile next to a building on fire. The fire did catch the building’s outside wall on fire, but firefighters quickly put it out.
As the fire was being extinguished the search of the interior of the building determined there were no occupants, Puget Sound Fire said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Puget Sound Fire would like to suggest to its residents that keeping debris piles and tall grass and brush away from your home or business during this dry time of year will reduce your fire risk.
