Kent City Councilmembers Marli Larimer and Satwinder Kaur raised the Pride flag at City Hall in celebration of diversity and recognition of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual (LGBTQIA+) rights movement.
Mayor Dana Ralph declared June as Pride Month in the city of Kent at the June 1 City Council meeting. The two councilmembers raised the flag June 14 to be flown June 14-20.
The proclamation includes the statement that many of the residents, students, city employees, and business owners within the city of Kent who contribute to the enrichment of our city are a part of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex and asexual community.
